Travel description:
Tour packages for ascending the highest volcano on the island of Java (Semeru) depart from Malang for two days and one night, with camping one night at the Kalimati shelter, and end in Surabaya or Malang.

Day 1
- 06.00am Pick up from the Malang area and ETD to Ranu Pane village (during the trip, check up on medical conditions at the local hospital).
- 08.00am ETA Ranu pane, breakfast, and coffee this morning
- 08.30am Start trekking to Kalimati shelter (during the way, have lunch in Ranu Kumbolo Lake).
- 05.00pm ETA to Kalimati shelter; take rest.
- 07.00pm Diner & Free Program
Day 2
- 01.00am Trekking to Semeru Summit
- 05.00am Semeru summit. Enjoy the sunrise and a panorama from the highest peak on Java Island.
- 06.30am ETD Kalimati shelter
- 09.00am ETA Kalimati shelter, breakfast, and coffee morning
- 10.30pm ETD to Ranu Pane Village (lunch on Ranu Kumbolo Lake)
- 05.00pm ETA: Ranu Pane; continue to Malang/Surabaya area.
- 07.00pm ETA Malang or 09.00pm ETA Surabaya & tour finish!

Semeru volcano
The Semeru volcano is an active volcano in Indonesia's East Java province. In this region, the Indo-Australian plate subducts beneath the Eurasia plate. This is the tallest mountain on the island of Java. The name "Semeru" is derived from Meru, the Hindu world's central mountain, or Sumeru, the home of the gods. This stratovolcano is also known as Mahameru, which means "Great Mountain" in Sanskrit. It is one of the most popular hiking destinations in Indonesia.
